Topics covered: Meromorphic functions and differential forms on Riemann surfaces, Riemann-Roch theorem, applications to algebraic curves, discussion of sheaves and cohomology.

Prerequisites: A course in complex analysis.

Book: Algebraic Curves and Riemann Surfaces by Miranda (We will follow the book closely)

Format:This course will be run as a normal lecture course, two lectures per week, with the understanding that students will have to do some reading on their own.
