Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences public lecture: Learning to deal with uncertainty in flood and tsunami modelling

I will outline how we use mathematical models and accurate computational simulations to predict the flow from tsunamis and riverine flooding. I will present results using our open source simulation package, ANUGA, showing the predicted inundation from the 2011 Tohku tsunami and a 1 in a 100 year flood result for our local Sullivans Creek, which demonstrate the complexity of these problems, and the need for accurate numerical models.
