Abstract:

The DG Literature Workshop is an event for students and researchers interested in DG to come together and discuss papers recently uploaded to the arXiv. For our first workshop, we will be looking at “Compact curve shortening flow solutions out of non compact curve” by Theodora Bourni (University of Tennessee) and Martin Reiris (Universidad de la Republica) which can be found at https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.17385. The abstract of the paper can be seen below.

"We construct a slingshot, that is a compact, embedded solution to curve shortening flow that comes out of a non compact curve and exists for a finite time. Anyone is welcome to attend, though we highly recommend reading through the paper once."
