October is World Mental Health Month, and the MSI is committed to improving mental health outcomes for our staff and students.
This Mental Health Workshop will be presented in two parts.
The first half will cover some basic mental health literacy, and de-stigmatising the conversation around mental health. We'll also deconstruct some harmful stereotypes around the "links" between maths, research and mental health.
The second half will then cover a "mental health toolkit", for you to use in your own life to look after your own mental health. We'll look at things like sleep, diet, gratitude, and exercise, and how to seek professional help.
The session will be presented by MSI Mental Health First Aider Josh Robinson. Before coming to MSI, Josh worked in the mental health space in the ANU student residences for three years, and in particular managed mental health responses during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
The slides from this talk are now available (PPT 7MB).
