Rommel Real, PhD candidate at the Mathematical Sciences Institute has been awarded the runner-up prize for his fascinating presentation on "Making blurred images worth a thousand words" at the Three Minute Thesis competition.

His research is focused on using applied mathematics to make images sharper, a tool that could be applied to improve medical imaging, for example.
