Join our workshop, designed for primary school teachers, with Professor Uri Onn from the Mathematical Sciences Institute at the ANU.
The aim of this workshop is to raise awareness and discuss tools for preparing students for, and teaching, fractions. Fractions are among the most difficult topics in primary school mathematics, and arguably across all of K–12. We will explore why fractions are so challenging and suggest how intentional preparation in the early years can be a game changer. Morning tea will be provided. About the speaker:
Professor Uri Onn is an academic at the ANU Mathematical Sciences Institute specialising in group theory and representation theory. He takes a keen interest in math education and was involved in teacher training and curriculum development in Israel before moving to Australia 10 years ago.
