Join us for Pi Day 2024, a collaborative event by the ANU Mathematical Sciences Institute and the ANU College of Engineering, Computing, and Cybernetics. Celebrated worldwide on March 14th (3/14), Pi Day commemorates the mathematical constant π, calculated to over 50 trillion digits beyond its decimal point. Known for its infinite and non-repeating nature, pi presents a captivating challenge for memorisation and computational exploration.
As part of the festivities, we invite you to an afternoon filled with tea and pies, creating a delightful atmosphere for mathematical enthusiasts. Additionally, we will be featuring an exhibition on "Women in Mathematics," shedding light on the significant contributions of women in the field. This exhibition is especially poignant as we mark the 60th anniversary of Hanna Neumann's appointment as the head of the ANU Department of Mathematics. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of mathematics and honour the remarkable achievements of women like Hanna Neumann.
