About

We will consider numerical methods to model tsunamis, flooding and debris flow. Possible topics range from considering the mathematical model to be used to specific implementation issues. Consideration could be given to depth averaged models such as the shallow water wave equation, or the Serre equation to fully 3D models such as the Navier Stokes equation. Other projects could concentrate on the numerical techniques used to solve the specific model equations. I.e numerical methods for hyperbolic system of conservation laws and balance laws. And finally, computational issues such as the parallel implementation or the implementation on GPUs could be considered.

Projects on a specific real world application would be considered (e.g. distribution and mitigation of pollutant in a lake).
