CMEP Material
Summary
The Canberra Mathematics Enrichment Programme is about enrichment rather than acceleration though the school syllabus. Students are
exposed to a diverse range of extra-curricular material, with an emphasis on solving problems.
Recreational Mathematics. Fun and games with numbers and patterns.
Advanced Mathematics. Explorations of university-level concepts like knot theory or modular forms .
Competition Mathematics. Training for Olympiad pathway competitions.
During school terms 1 and 4 each year we typically work together on old competition papers, using them as a vehicle to train problem-solving and proof-writing skills. Students then have the chance of sitting invitational proof-based competitions. The other sessions are a mixture of enrichment activities including presentations, individual work, and group discussions.
Brief summaries of recent CMEP sessions can be found here.
Below is a link to an old problem sheet. Can you work out how old this is? How many errors can you spot? If you enjoy it, then you might be CMEP material, too.
