Description
Abstract: On October 6, OpenAI posted 722 AI-generated mathematics papers. I will discuss one of them, "A finite Smith-Toda complex V(4) at the prime 1009". I will discuss how, as a way to fight fire with fire, I used ChatGPT as an interactive research assistant to help me understand the paper. In the process I was able to obtain a stronger result, that V(4) exists for all primes p >= 11, while simultaneously simplifying many of the arguments from the OpenAI paper.
