Abstract:

The n-strand braid group can be realised as a mapping class group, leading to a dynamical study of braids. In this talk we'll discuss how to relate dynamics of braids to homological algebra, arising from the space of stability conditions. We'll focus mostly on the simplest class of braids (the periodic ones) and mention also how to extend our results to all braids of entropy 0. This is based on an ongoing project with Ed Heng and Tony Licata.
