Preface

This volume contains the proceedings of a miniconference on geometry and partial differential equations held at the Australian National University in June 1986, at the Centre for Mathematical Analysis.  The proceedings of an earlier such conference have been published in Volume 10 of this series.

We thank the contributors to this voume as well as the other participants at the conference.  We gratefully acknowledge the support of Professor Neil Trudinger and the Centre for Mathematical Analysis.  Finally, we wish to thank Marily Gray for editorial and typing assistance; Norma Chin, Joyce Heinz and Dorothy Nash for typing a number of the papers; and David Cullen for some organisational assistance.
